Doctor Love or Doctor Love on Vacation

Very few slots end up with a sequel based on the same theme. However, Doctor Love is one of the slots that managed to reach those envied heights. That gives us the chance to consider whether the sequel has managed to defy expectations and beat the original, or whether the first slot was the better of the two.

Doctor Love

Here we get five reels, 20 lines, and a look at a day in the life of Doctor Love. Expect to see a cute nurse, some flowers, a rather battered-looking patient, and other relevant items as well.

Doctor Love does appear in the game too, behaving as a wild symbol. We guess that makes sense. You also get a scattered Love Meter acting as the trigger for some free games. Ten, 15, or 20 of these are given for three, four, or five meters. You will be assured of a 3x boost to all prizes won in this part of the game.

Doctor Love on Vacation

The sequel lives up to its title by offering us a beach-based background with blue skies and palm trees to view. Doctor Love is present once again, this time dressed (or not) for the beach. He is wild once more, doubling all prizes too.

The scatter is far from being a Love Meter here, though. Instead, we get to see a surfboard with a red cross on it. The free spins are a little more generous here, awarded in groups of 12, 16, or 20 spins for three, four, or five surfboards. The multiplier is better too, with a standard 3x multiplier for all prizes and a 6x multiplier if you get a wild win anywhere in view.

Which is best - the sequel or the original?

We must choose the sequel here as our pick of the two. Both games are excellent, let's be clear, but the sequel offers a greater number of free spins for three or four triggering scatters, while five remains the same. You also get a standard multiplier for the free spins and a larger one for wild wins. The first game only offers a smaller wild multiplier to work with.

As such, Doctor Love on Vacation pips its predecessor to the post. That is an admirable achievement though, don't you think? Sequels often aren't as good, yet this one is better.
